SLA Moves Youngsters To Kaithadi Internment Centre

July 02, 2009 10:30:00
A special rehabilitation centre setup in Kaithadi by the Sri Lankan Army houses children aged over 14 years from the Jaffna camp. The young boys and girls are suspected to have been trained in using weapons by the LTTE. Earlier a group of children along with their families were held in the Kaithadi Saiva Children Home and they have now been shifted to Thellippazhai Rehabilitation Camp without proper notice.

About 53 families from Saiva centre were moved to Raamaavil in Chaavakacheari and when the army tried to abduct the young children to be taken back to Kaithadi rehabilitation centre, the parents protested. So, they have been relocated together to Kaithadi and declared as an internment village.

The children are being allowed to go to a school nearby under the supervision of the army.
