Raaman Thaediya Seethai
Sep 19,2008
In the Purana Ramayana Raman first marries Seethai and then goes to 14 years Vanavaasam. In the newly released 'Raman Thedia Seethai.it is vice versa. The hero Cheran first suffers three years Vanavaasam style setbacks and sufferings prior to he gets married to the heroine 'Seethai'!
Cheran, as per the story, goes to Nagerkoil, along with his mother, a teacher, to see a girl for alliance purpose. When he converses with the girl he relates to her his past history. He tells her that he was a mentally affected boy earlier and took psychiatric treatment.. The girl gets shocked and rejects his alliance offer. Next alliance gets settled with another girl but on the day of marriage she elopes with her past lover. Broken hearted Cheran happens to meet Pasupathy, a blind man, but well-settled, decently-married person! He infuses new hope into the mind of Cheran and gives him encouragement to face challenges in life. Now Manivannan, father of the girl who eloped with her lover and disappointed Cheran on the day of marriage, comes to help Cheran. He once again takes Cheran to Nagerkoil to see another girl for pursuing the alliance matter. While they are travelling in a auto, the driver shows them a photograph of a girl, explaining to them how deeply he is in love with her. That girl is none other than the one whom Manivannan and Cheran had come to meet in Nagerkoil for marriage. Now Cheran is forced to reject that girl too. At this juncture, Pasupathy arranges for Cheran's meeting with his (Pasupathy's) wife's sister, who is working as woman police officer in Nagerkoil. That matter also fails. Finally how Cheran gets united with the very girl who had rejected Cheran 3 years ago at the very same Nagerkoil is the happy ending of the story.
Cheran's realistic acting is the first plus point of the film. Director Jagannath has succeeded in giving a realistic treatment to major portions of the story and the screenplay. But here and there cinematic masala matters have shown their ugly head. One example is Nithin Sathy's midlight stealing episode and boring lootty at Karthika's house. Pasupathy's and Nithin Sathy's scenes seem to be two separate
tracks in the film. But they are spinned with Cheran's track, which itself could be made complete track on it's own. Overall the total film is O.K. and worth-watching.
Pasupathy's acting is extraordinary.
The musical scores are lovely and three songs are pleasant to the ears. Vidyasagar has succeeded in his job.
Camera work is praiseworthy too.
Navya Nair and Kajala are arttractive.
Verdict: Raman Thedia Seethai is another feather in Cheran_s cap. And it_s another feather in Pasupathy_s cap too.
