'Kuselan' another milestone film for the Super Star Rajinikanth. It further elevates his level as actor in the fullest sense of the term His acting ability is given it's rarest opportunity to show to the world what a natural artiste resides in Rajini, the man! A humanely woven character role in which he shines like sunshine! In 'Kuselan' he is more comical than his comical acting in 'Chandramugi'. As for acting it's a sequel to Rajini's 'Mullum Malarum'. As for direction it's a sequel to 'Chandramugi' for director P.Vasu.

Pasupathy is a poor barber living in a village. His warm friend a few decades ago, has now turned to be a super ster in film world. One day a film unit lands at his village for shooting. What transpires between the old friends is the highlight of the story.

As a poor barber, Pasupathy has done maximum justice for his role in the film.
The story spins around Pasupathy and not around Rajini. P.Vasu had assured vice versa. That it's a Pasupathy centred Rajini film is a remarkable difference that might have needed much guts on the part of the director. A daring diversion indeed! No punch dialogues for Rajinikanth. It's another Himalayan variation from most of his other flicks. In 'Chandramugi' too no punch dialogues for Rajini That film made great history in terms of success. The entire credit first for the guts, next for the great success of these two films go to the director.

The duration of Rajini's presence in the first half of 'Kuselan' is only 15 minutes. He is shown as acting in scenes for a film. In the second half, he is occupying the screen for about 50 minutes or so. The last 20 minutes of the film is very sensitive and touching to the hearts to the point of queezing tears from out of our eyes!

Heroine Nayanthara is never projected so aesthetically than she's portrayed in the frames of this film! Such a lovely projection she has!

One of the audiences in U.S.A. after having seen this film has said: 'I have seen the Malayalam original too. But the Tamil version is far superior.'.
